Your feed, in real time

New posts from the places you follow reach you in real time – over an open connection, with no reload.

There's a live connection sitting behind every place you follow, open the whole time spoty is, whether you're actively reading or just have it open in another tab. The instant somebody posts somewhere on your list, that post travels down the same connection and lands in your feed immediately – no refresh, no pull-to-update, no reopening the page to check. You don't ask the feed if anything changed; it tells you the moment it does. A place with a lot going on never creates a backlog either, because there's no periodic check-in for anything to queue up behind – each post simply arrives as its own event, the instant it happens. That's the real shift: a follow stops being a static subscription and becomes an ongoing line back to the places that matter to you.

Posts play as a slideshow

A place's posts play out as a full-screen slideshow – and your whole feed can play the same way.

Open your feed and it can just run as a slideshow on its own – full-screen, one post after another, everything new from every place you follow in a single pass, with no tapping through place after place to check what's new, and nothing to queue up first. Narrow it down to a single place instead, and you get exactly the same slideshow at a smaller scale: just that place's own posts, running by themselves instead of your whole feed, with nothing else mixed in. Nothing to swipe, nothing to open one at a time, nothing to hunt for either way – you land on it and it's already moving. It's built for the moments when you've only got a minute or two spare, not for sitting down and reading through everything line by line – press play once and you're caught up on your own places while doing something else entirely, whether that's making coffee or waiting for a bus.

A place's post shown full-screen as part of its slideshow – the progress bar marks its position among the other posts.

Follow places, not profiles

Most social platforms are built on people: you follow accounts you know, or ones you wish you did, and your feed ends up only as interesting as that particular group. That isn't how spoty works – you don't follow people at all, you follow places. Say the diner downtown, the trailhead outside town, the stadium from your first real game, or the bar where you met your best friend. None of that depends on who you happen to know. It depends on where you actually have a connection. Post at one of those places and you'll show up in someone's feed whether they've ever met you or not – the feed doesn't check who you are, only where you were. People you know can drift away, move cities, stop posting entirely, and none of it touches your feed, because it was never built on them in the first place. What you get instead is a feed shaped like your own map: the handful of places that actually mean something to you, regardless of whoever else happens to be standing there.
